February 2019: Member of Month

Cathy Fike

Spotlight – Each month the District recognizes a member for outstanding accomplishments in earning educational awards, in marketing their club or serving above and beyond what is expected.

Cathy is dedicated to Toastmasters and inspires members of her club as she celebrates 41 years as a Toastmaster.

Cathy joined Dogwood Toastmasters in October 1977. She’s held almost all the DOGWOOD Club offices in the 41 years since then. She is semi-retired and works part-time at Emory University. Cathy is a big fan of penguins. The picture of her here is from the Falkland Islands where she saw five different kinds of penguins in one day. Her most recent trip to Antarctica completed her travels to all seven continents.

Cathy continues to be active in Dogwood Toastmasters to keep her own presentation skills from getting too rusty, but she especially enjoys working with newer members and watching them grow in Toastmasters.

I can’t imagine being an active Toastmaster for 41 years. That’s amazing. You are an inspiration to us all! I know your club is very proud of you.
